Course guide

How the course works

Critical Core Academy organises EDAIC Part I into 77 modules across seven curriculum parts. Each module keeps the learning material, flashcards and explained questions for one topic together. Home then shows what needs attention next.

Course structure

What the course contains

The seven parts are the organisation used by this course. They cover the basic-science and clinical areas examined in EDAIC Part I.

A
Topics related to Paper ACourse Parts 1–4
  • Physiology
  • Pharmacology
  • Physics, measurement and statistics
  • Anatomy
B
Topics related to Paper BCourse Parts 5–7
  • Clinical anaesthesia
  • Intensive care
  • Internal and emergency medicine

What may be included in a module

The available material depends on the topic, but it remains inside the same module.

Focused note
The main explanation of the topic, including mechanisms and clinical relevance.
Video
Visual explanation for relationships that are easier to understand by seeing them.
Audio
An alternative way to revise or consolidate the topic away from the screen.
Flashcards
Questions used to retrieve the answer before it is revealed and then schedule review.
Module questions
True-or-false statements with comments explaining why each response is correct or incorrect.
02

Study method

Learn → Recall → Review → Apply

Use the same sequence for each topic. The four stages happen in specific places.

  1. 1
    Inside the module

    Learn

Read the focused note. Use the video or audio when it helps clarify or reinforce the topic.

  2. 2
    Inside the module

    Recall

Answer each flashcard before revealing the response. Then grade how well you recalled it.

  3. 3
    On Home

    Review

When a graded card reaches its scheduled review time, it appears under Due cards on Home.

  4. 4
    Inside modules and tests

    Apply

Answer true-or-false statements, then read why every response is correct or incorrect.

This sequence uses active recall, spaced repetition and explained practice. These approaches also appear in ESAIC’s study guidance .

03

Flashcards and Home

How a flashcard becomes a Due card

Home does not contain a separate copy of every module deck. It shows only cards that you have already graded and that are now due for review.

  1. 1
    Open flashcards in a module

Try to answer a card before revealing its response.

  2. 2
    Grade your recall

Choose Again, Hard, Good or Easy according to how well you remembered it.

  3. 3
    A next review is scheduled

The grade determines when that card should return.

  4. 4
The card appears on Home when due

Review it from Due cards; the new grade schedules the following review.

Important

A new card will not appear under Due cards until it has first been answered and graded inside its module.
